    Vote for Troop Dues

Please help us decide our path for 2015.

Moving forward to 2015 and beyond, the Troop needs to find a better way to keep people accountable for their fundraising commitment.  The Troop Committee has come up with a couple of ideas and would like your input.  Please select one below and click the “Vote” button.

We would like to implement the option that receives the most votes. The changes will go into effect December, 2014.

Please add any questions you may have to the comments.

We have made two changes effective 2014.
    1. If you have more than one scout in the troop you will pay full for the first scout ($100) and save $10 ($90) in dues for each additional scout.

    2. An Eagle Scout Discount will go into effect. If you have an Eagle Scout that wishes to remain active in the troop, you will only pay re-chartering fees and for each camp-out they wish to attend.

    Thank you,
    Brian Krakos

So a question for the Eagle Scout discount. If the scout goes to everything ,can he just do the regular buyout and fundraising? The other way to pay as you go would end up costing much more it seems.

    • Iffland 4:10 pm on November 15, 2013 Permalink | Reply

I’m confused. Do we pay for monthly camps if we do not attend? What do we pay now? That may make it easier to understand.

      Thanks.

        Clare,

Great question. For the first option you would only pay for the camps you attend. The $30 to $50 dollars would pay for the camp site, food and gas to one camp.

Right now the troop pays an amount per Scout for monthly camps. For example, a cabin camp might cost $15 per Scout. (made up number) The Scout is asked to pay for food ($12) and gas to camp. With this option, the Scout will pay for the full amount of the monthly camps you go to. In addition you will get an extra 20% in fundraising since the troop is not paying for camp sites.

The second option you pay the troop in advance for camp sites, propane, trailer repairs, lantern repairs, tents, etc. but get 100% of your fundraising.

For instance, if you fund-raise $600 for the year, you will have little to no out of pocket cost. For example, Right now as you know, the fundraising is 50% to the troop and 50% to the Scout. If your fundraising has paid for summer camp in the past, (around $250) you will now have at least $500 in your account. You may use this amount to pay for dues, troop fees and monthly camps.

I hope this has answered your question. Please reply if there is anything else.

    ANNUAL DUES TIME OF YEAR

    Troop,

It’s that time of year again when we have to start talking about our annual dues.  The 2014 Annual dues are due to the troop NLT 12/5.  Unfortunately dues for next year are increasing to $85.  We are having to do this because the BSA is charging us $13 more for our membership to the BSA.  The committee has decided to try to help those with multiple Scouts in the troop by charging $85 for the first Scout and $75 for every Scout there after.   Remember, you can pay for your dues out of your Scout account.  You just have to let Cara know.

Also it is time to look at your fundraising commitment.  Each year we ask and expect every Scout to raise $175 in profit for the troop (that also means you got $175 in your account).  We did not ask you to sign a commitment form, but expect everyone to be Trustworthy and do their part.  As I talked about in our last COH/Parents meeting it cost the troop on average $175 per Scout each year.  That is a real number.  If you need to see where you are at in your fundraising commitment, please contact Cara Neaf and she can let you know what your balance would be.

Moving forward to 2015 and beyond, the Troop needs to find a better way to keep people accountable for their fundraising commitment.  The Troop Committee has come up with a couple of ideas and want your input.  Be watching for a Blog Poll to be coming out for your feedback on this issue.

    Thanks,

    Mr. Piel

Hunter Iffland is not continuing with scouts. He’s just not committed enough and has too many other obligations.

As far as John Henry goes, does he have enough $$ in his account to pay for dues. If not, please let me know what he still owes.

      Thanks!

St. Louis Bread Co. fundraiser night

Yes, it’s a dream come true you Bread Co. lovers.  The troop will be having a fundraiser night at Bread Co on a date in January, tbd.  Think, the same format as the Fudruckers fundraisers.  Here’s the kicker: you can pay for your dinner that night with Scrips cards.  Brilliant I know!!!  Why not?  I’m letting you know of this now so you have time to purchase you Bread Co. or Panera Scrip cards in November or December.

    Thanks,

    Jenn
