    JOSH KRAKOS EAGLE PROJECT

    Troop,

Please see e-mail below from Josh Krakos and his Eagle Project.  Please read carefully and reply back to Josh as requested:

    Dear Parents and Scouts,

I am having my eagle scout project on October 18, 2014 at Rogers Middle School at 8 a.m. We will be working on the baseball field behind Rogers; taking out the invasive honey suckle, putting in two benches, and fixing up the actual dirt playing field. This is a very big project and I could use all the help I can get. I would be very thankful if you could assist me on my project. It will count as service hours for the scouts and lunch will be provided.

If you could attend please RSVP me as soon as possible either at a meeting or through email. I am going to have three different teams working on the three different projects.

If you have any questions or request for what team you want to be on you can email me at krakosj@afftonschools.net.

The tools that you will need for the project will depend on what team you will be on, but any tools will be greatly appreciated. Tools will be listed below.

    Team one (honey suckle)

    safety goggles

    work gloves

    hedge clippers

    hedge loppers

    rakes

    shovels

    wheel barrels

    Team two (benches)

    Wheel barrels

    pole diggers

    shovel

    Team three (baseball field)

    rake (perfectly metal)

    tiller (manual)

    pick axe

    shovels

    hoes

    wheel barrels

    work gloves

    leaf bags

Again thank you for your time and I hope you or your scout can join me on October 18th at 8 a.m. behind Rogers Middle School. If you have any questions or RSVP you can find me at the boy scout meetings or you can email me at krakosj@afftonschools.net.

    Thank You,

    Josh Krakos

    THANK YOU!!!!

    Troop,

Well it took me over the weekend to process what happened Thursday night.  The words that come to mind were surprised, honored and humbled.

Words can’t express the emotions I felt that night.  Although the lack of words might have given it away considering it’s really pretty hard for me to be speechless.

Starting with the time and effort it took to submit all the paperwork needed for the Merit Award.  Again I was truly blown away and thank you all for for considering me and for the effort put forth in submitting it.  It is truly an honor to be presented with it by you all!!

Then we got home and Cindy and I read the card and went through all the gifts that were inside it!!! Oh my goodness!!!  Totally not necessary.  But from the bottom of my heart and Cindy’s heart, WE THANK YOU ALL so much for the GENEROUS gifts!!  We will have many date nights!!

When I became ScoutMaster, I had no idea what I was doing or what to expect.  I can’t thank enough all the leaders who helped me along the way during my journey – there are too many to name for fear of missing someone, but you know who you are and I thank you deeply for all the support you have given me throughout my journey.

My goal from the beginning was to help the boys grow into independent young men and to give them every opportunity available to rank up through Scouts.  Another goal was to give them that nugget of experience and truth so that maybe one day, when they are facing a challenge they could maybe say “oh yeah, I remember….”

As leaders, we may not always see the end result in our Scouts, but planting that seed is what we are called to do.  In the bible it says:

Proverbs 22:6 NLT  New Living Translation

“Teach your children to choose the right path, and when they are older, they will remain upon it.”

And that has been one of my versus as ScoutMaster.   We may not see the end result, but as leaders and parents,  it is our duty to keep planting those seeds so that one day, they may take root and grow.

Again, THANK YOU ALL, for all the love and support you have given me during my journey.  It’s truly been an Honor and a Privilege to help lead this troop for the past almost 9 years and I look forward to still doing my part in helping our Scouts grow into fine young men.

    Thank You,

    Mr. Piel

    Troop,

Looks like participants start lining up at 8.  So those who are getting there to help set up or drop off items, please be there by 7:30 so we can get in before they shut off the parking lot.  Please remember, if you are bringing drinks, please make sure they are already cold, on ice…..  Unless it’s coffee  you are bringing, then make sure it’s HOT!

    See you in the AM!

    AFFTON DAYS PARADE BREAKFAST BOOTH!

    Happy Monday Troop!

This Saturday is the Affton Days Parade.  Each year, the troop sets up a breakfast booth at the High School parking lot where the parade starts.

I will be supplying Biscuits & Gravy to sell.  I am looking for more donations – things like:

    Cases of Water

    Juice

    Coffee & Fixings

    Doughnuts

Some Soda (Brand Name please – Generic doesn’t sell)

I know in years past people have gotten donations from Krispy Kreme, QT and others.

I will also need help getting set up and selling.  The boys canvas the parking lot for sales.   Once the parade starts, we are done.

Please leave a comment stating what you can donate if you are able.  With the new design, everyone can see all the comments easily.  You just have to make sure you look at the actual website to see the comments.

I will send a follow up post with final times.

    Thanks,

    Mr. Piel
