66th Annual Memorial Day Good Turn

Sunday, May 24, 2015 12:30 p.m.

Scouts of all ages are invited to participate in the Memorial Day Good Turn, hosted by the Gravois Trail District. Check-in runs from 11 a.m.-11:30 am in front of the big white building. If you haven’t been there it is where Johnson pl. Kearney st. & Davis st. meet.The procession from the National Guard Base to the cemetary will begin at 12:30 p.m.

Here’s some important information to know before you go:

Bring lots of water. Bring a canned food item to donate to the St. Louis Area FoodBank!* Collection  will be at St. Bernadette, 68 Sherman ave. Mr. Wagoner is your main contact person for the event. Please do not bring Unit or American Flags.No Parking will be allowed on the National Guard Military Base.Scouts and Scouters need to be in uniform to enter the base. All other adults will need to have a photo ID.Do not drink water from the lawn faucets.Check the forecast before you head out. Bring rain gear, if necessary. The  event is held rain or shine.Make sure you bring plenty of water for you and your Scouts. There is little, to no, shade on the National Guard Base or the Cemetery.Do not feed the wild animals.Remember the Scout Law and the purpose of the day. We are guests of the   National Guard and Jefferson Barracks Cemetery.

*Many children go hungry over the summer months when they do not receive free or reduced-price lunches from school. This summer, GSLAC is teaming with the United Way and the St. Louis Area FoodBank to help keep food pantry shelves full over the summer.
