    Fall Reunion Information 

    We need several Scouts to go down early with Mr.Wagoner to set up. Scouts need to be able to get to the Admin building by 3:15 to leave at 3:30.
    The remainder of the group will leave PROMPTLY at 5:00. with me. Please arrive at 4:45.
    Scouts MUST, MUST, MUST have their thunderbird on. Send them with work gloves and clothes they can get muddy and gross.

    This Thursday and Court of Honor 

    This Thursday the meeting is different. It is School Night for Scouting. We will be at Gotsch in the Cafeteria starting at 7 pm. This is the recruiting event for the year. We need Scouts in uniform to help. 

    Next Thursday (September 5) is Court of Honor. It will be at Affton High School in the Commons/Cafeteria area. It is a dessert Court of Honor, so bring your favorite desserts.

    Friday, September 6 – Sunday, September 8 is OA Fall Reunion. We will LEAVE the Administration building at 5:00. Please be there by 4:45. We will be at S-F for the weekend.

    Saturday, September 21 is Affton Days Parade. We will have our pre-parade food/drink booth. We need donations of doughnuts, Gatorade, water etc. This is a fundraiser for the Troop.

    Thursday Meeting & Upcoming Dates 

    OA Fall Reunion is September 6th – 8th, 2019.  We will have sign-ups THIS THURSDAY only.

    We will be registering at a Troop.  Please bring to the meeting THIS THURSDAY $22 for Candidates (the Scouts and Scouters that were elected this Summer) and $15 for Brothers.  This includes $5/person for food.  The Troop will be cooking.

    Please note that for camping trips, the last day for sign-up and payment will be the Thursday prior to the event. 

    Mr. Wagoner will be at the meeting on Thursday to answer OA questions for OA Members.

    We will be going over Troop information for those that aren’t OA Members.

    September 21 is the Affton Days Parade.  We will be having the pre-Parade food booth.  We need parents to donate drinks/food items – Gatorade, Water, Doughnuts, Chips.   This is a Troop Fundraiser that goes to our general fund.

    October 5th – Pack Rummage Sale – The Troop will be holding another “food booth” fundraiser.  For this, we will need more snack items – soda, chips, water.  We can only do pre-packaged items.  In the morning, we will want to do doughnuts.

    August 15th Meeting! 

    The first meeting of the school year is this Thursday, August 15th. The meeting will start promptly at 7 pm. Please arrive about 6:50 to help set up.

    This meeting is a packed meeting. We will hold elections, choose a new Patrol Patch, discuss December – July activities and dates we do not have Mesnier. We will also discuss the Uniform Policy and Cell Phones.

    Court of Honor is Thursday, September 5th. The last day to turn in any completed Merit Badge Cards to be awarded at the September Court of Honor will be August 15th.

    If a Scout needs to have their book signed off on, they need to bring it to the August 15th Meeting. The last day to do a Scoutmaster Conference and Board of Reviews will be on August 22nd.

    As we are now resuming meetings, if a Scout needs a Merit Badge card, they need to ask either Mrs. Tague or Mr. Nehring. We will no longer accept an email or text from parents. The SCOUT needs to make sure they ask well in advance of any Merit Badge activity. It is the responsibility of the Scout and Parent to read the requirement for each Merit Badge that the Scout is signed up for

    Cell Phone Policy 

    As we approach the start of the school year and our first meeting, I am reminding parents that cell phones, MP3 players and any electronics are NOT allowed at meetings, camping trips or OA Events. The ONLY exception when one of the Scoutmasters approve. (That will only be CABIN camping trips. No electronics are allowed in tents, especially phones and cameras.) We will discuss this with the Scouts at our first meeting.

    Upcoming Dates 

    OA Chapter Meeting – August 10th

    Our Chapter Meeting for August will be held on the 10th at Beaumont Scout Reservation, from 12:00-5:00. This will be a joint meeting with other Chapters to facilitate Brotherhood and stronger bonds within our Lodge.

    We will meet at the Admin building at 11:00 to carpool to Beaumont.  I need to know who is going by this Wednesday.

    August 15 – first meeting of the School Year.  We will hold elections and confirm several of the activities the Scouts wanted to do.  Scouts MUST bring their books so they can be signed off on by an older Scout. This is also the last day to turn in Merit Badge Cards for the September Court of Honor.

    This is the website.  Parents will have to register their Scout.  When registration is open, I will post details.

    UOctober 11 – 13 – Fall PACAO. October 3 will be the final date for registration.

    Space Jamboree and updates 

    August 2nd – Space Jamboree. Cost $10 for food. Be at the parking lot across from the Admin Building at 9:45 am. We will leave at 10 a.m. sharp. We are asking that the boys only pack an overnight bag because we are not taking the trailer. Everything we will need for the weekend needs to fit in the back of my mini-van (without seats).

    Eagle Scout Association Merit Badge Make Up day is August 3 at Beaumont. Scouts must come to the event with their partial cards from Summer Camp. If your Scout needs their partial card, please contact me and I will put them in my mailbox for you to be picked up. I can’t email them because they are not individual cards. This make-up day is only for partials, not new merit badges.

    The first meeting is Thursday, August 15th. We will start promptly at 7 pm with flags. Arrive at 6:45 to help with set-up. The meeting will start with elections. Scouts need to also bring their books so they can be signed off on for any Scoutmaster Conferences / Board of Reviews.

    August 15 is the last day to submit any completed merit badge card to be presented at the September 5th Court of Honor. Any cards submitted after August 15 will be presented at the December Court of Honor.

    At this point, our activities for August – December have been set. The boys have asked to do the Climbing Merit Badge. I am looking to schedule it on a Saturday or Sunday in November or December. There are other activities that the boys discussed that will be scheduled for April, May, June time frame. We need to add Troop Camping beyond the OA and Spring Camporee.

    Space Jamboree/ MB make-up and important dates 

    I am posting this on Saturday because I am leaving on Sunday for Eagle Trail Camp at S-F on Sunday.

    August 2nd – Space Jamboree. We are leaving at 10 am from the parking lot across from the Admin Building – the O’Reilly / License Office parking lot. Be there about 9:45 am.     Space Jam and First Meeting of the new school year. 

    Space Jamboree is Friday, August 2 – 3.   We will be leaving at 10 a.m. on Friday.  More details about food next week.  Below is a link to the Merit Badge Prerequisites. (If you forgot what merit badges you signed up for, let me know!!)

    Our first meeting of the year will be on Thursday, August 15.  It will be a busy meeting.  We will hold elections for new positions.  As a reminder, a Scout must be active to be considered for elections. 

    All Merit Badge cards from STEM Camp or other Merit Badge Skill Centers MUST be turned in to Mrs. Tague by August 22nd.  Court of Honor for Summer is September 5th in Affton High School Commons.

    Scouts need to wear their Class A to meetings unless discussed with one of the Scoutmasters.  Below is the Official Uniform from the Bi-Laws.

    Official uniform is as follows (unless otherwise specified):

    • Official Tan Boy Scout shirt with proper insignias
      • Uniform pants or shorts * (No gym shorts or sweat pants)
      • Troop neckerchief with slide
      • Shoes shall be hiking shoes or boots.

    A class A (field) uniform is to be worn at all troop meetings and functions unless specifically excused by the Scoutmaster.  New boys are expected to have an official tan Boy Scout shirt with proper insignias within 30 days of attaining Boy Scout rank but will not be excluded from activities. Venturing Scouts and leaders are expected to maintain a Boy Scout Uniform and wear it at Troop functions and Courts of Honor
