    Citizenship in the Community

This week, we will start the Citizenship in the Community Merit Badge. Due to the requirements, this isn’t a “one meeting and the merit badge is earned.”

One of the requirements is to attend a meeting of your city, town, or county council or school board. Affton has the Board of Education meetings at 7 pm on Tuesday, February 4 or Tuesday, February 18. (Affton Early Childhood, 9832 Reavis Road, Affton, MO 63123, United States)

The second part of the requirement is: Choose one of the issues discussed at the meeting where a difference of opinions was expressed, and explain to your counselor why you agree with one opinion more than you do another one.

February 8 – OA Chapter Banquet at Pope John Paul Parish Center on Mackenzie (the former St. Dominic Savio. It is the Chili and Cornbread cook-off – more information after Roundtable this Tuesday.

    Weather and Camping

I am sure everyone is watching the weather. As of now, we are still going cabin camping. If camping is canceled, it will be from GSLAC closing the camp.

I am pushing back arrival time to 6:30 so I can shop for food at the last minute.

However, as of 8:41 on Tuesday, the manual and on-line registration for Klondike (the day event) is not on the website so I can not register our Scouts. Adults will discuss this further on Thursday.

    Happy New Year

This Thursday will be a planning meeting for the remainder of the year. The Scouts will plan camping trips and activities. We will also build in rank requirements for the newer Scouts and several merit badges.

Klondike – January 24 – 26 – Beaumont. This is a cabin camp out. It will be the Scouts’ decision to go to the event or to do our own activities. We will discuss this on Thursday. The cost for the weekend is $22, which includes food and lodging. As this at Beaumont, we will have parents drop off and pick up.
